Great Bend Humane Society
The Golden Belt Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to animal welfare that provides housing and medical care to unwanted and stray animals. Our mission includes the placement of these animals by adoption or by networking with rescues. Euthanasia is ONLY used for animals that are unadoptable for reasons of aggressions, sickness and injury. We are only an impoundment facility for felines and canines. Once a month, our animals spend a few hours outside of the shelter at the Adopt-A-Pet Program located at Orscheln's in Great Bend, Ks., in hopes to finding their forever home. The Golden Belt Humane Society also over sees other temporary placement through the foster program. As like many shelters, we are in need of foster homes. Foster homes provide the animals stability, training, and extra TLC before they go to their forever homes. To become a foster, please stop in the shelter for an application. Our services through the Golden Belt Humane Society do not include the housing of exotic pets and wildlife. We do however provide live traps for nuisance animals. A deposit is required to use these traps. The Golden Belt Humane Society Animal Control officers handle cruelty cases of Felines, Canines and Equines. You may visit the Animal Control Section of the Humane Society on Facebook for more information. The link for this section is www.facebook.com/GoldenBeltHumaneSociety-AnimalControlDivision |
